In just a few days after this commentary is published, people in many countries will be celebrating Valentine’s Day by giving cards, flowers, chocolates and other gifts as an open declaration of their love for another.

And there is something wonderful about this day in our still-just-emerging new year of 2020: we are seeing more love than ever before shared more openly than ever before by members of our species.

We are also seeing more alienation than ever before, expressed more openly than ever before. Yet this need not be a cause for discouragement. It can, in fact, be a sign that we are at last ready for what could be humanity’s greatest celebration: a quantum leap into our long-predicted thousand years of peace.

What we are seeing in these days and times is consistent with what is called, in the published dialogues of Conversations with God, the “Law of Opposites.”

This law states that the moment you declare yourself to be anything, everything unlike it will come into the space of your awareness. That is because the collective consciousness of all sentient beings works systematically to create a Contextual Field within which that which they choose to Be may become manifest in their experience.

Put simply, if they wish to know themselves experientially as being “warm,” that which is called “cold” must exist.

If they wish to know themselves experientially as being “big,” that which is called “small” must exist.

What they are not must exist in their awareness if they wish to experience what they choose to be. You can (to use an example) choose to be “the light,” but you cannot experience that choice in the complete absence of the darkness.

I have gone into a bit of detail about this now so that we can know that discouragement over some of what is going on in the world right today can rightly be replaced by ENcouragement, as we recognize exactly what is happening.

We are seeing a precise demonstration of the Law of Opposites—and that tells us that we are on the right track as our species advances in its evolution.

The important thing now is to remain conscious of the role we can play in moving this process forward. There is no question that these days and time are among the most meaningful in human history, because we are transforming, right now, into the grandest version of the greatest vision ever we held about Who We Are.

It is, as my dear friend Barbara Marx Hubbard always reminded us, a birthing process, and as such it sometimes can be painful.

What I am seeing all around me now is a growing awareness of all of this among people everywhere. Our collective consciousness is expanding at an astonishing rate, and we are beginning to rise up in the face of “the opposite” of what we have chosen to be, and lovingly encouraging a change of course for humanity.

Conversations with God-Book 4: Awaken the Species placed before us a powerful invitation to do just that, together with a set of very practical tools to help us.

Among these tools was a remarkable list of the differences in the behaviors of an awakened species when compared to the behaviors of humans living in an unawakened state, so that we could have a measure to see how we are doing.

I’m excited to tell you that I am seeing more and more people stepping into these behaviors every day --- no doubt in response to the Law of Opposites.

Here is that list, taken right from the CWG text, to remind and reenergize those of us who have already seen it, and to inspire those who are seeing it for the first time:

1. An awakened species sees the Unity of All Life and lives into it. Humans in an unawakened state often deny it or ignore it.

2. An awakened species tells the truth, always. Humans in an unawakened state too often lie, to themselves as well as others.

3. An awakened species says one thing and will do what they say. Humans in an unawakened state often say one thing and do another.

4. An awakened species, having seen and acknowledged what is so, will always do what works. Humans in an unawakened state often do the opposite.

5. An awakened species does not embrace a principle in its civilization that correlates with the concepts that humans refer to as “justice” and “punishment.”

6. An awakened species does not embrace a principle in its civilization that correlates with the concept that humans refer to as “insufficiency.”

7. An awakened species does not embrace a principle in its civilization that correlates with the concept that humans refer to as “ownership.”

8. An awakened species shares everything with everyone all the time. Humans in an unawakened state often do not, only sharing with others in limited circumstances.

9. An awakened species creates a balance between technology and cosmology; between machines and nature. Humans in an unawakened state often do not.

10. An awakened species would never under any circumstances terminate the current physical expression of another sentient being unless asked directly by that other being to do so. Humans in an unawakened state often kill other humans without that other human requesting them to.

11. An awakened species would never do anything that could potentially damage or harm the physical environment that supports the members of the species when they are physicalized. Humans in an unawakened state often do so.

12. An awakened species never poisons itself. Humans in an unawakened state often do so.

13. An awakened species never competes. Humans in an unawakened state are often in competition with each other.

14. An awakened species is clear that it needs nothing. Humans in an unawakened state often create a need-based experience.

15. An awakened species experiences and expresses unconditional love for everyone. Humans in an unawakened state often cannot imagine even a Deity who does this, much less do they do it themselves.

16. An awakened species has harnessed the power of metaphysics. Humans in an unawakened state often largely ignore it.

This is a great checklist, and as we approach this Valentine’s Day, I see people everywhere working to integrate those ideas into the life, placing before humanity not only more and more love, but a whole new cultural story, and sending us in fresh and uplifting directions in relationships, work, marriage, culture, education, parenting, and every area of human endeavor.

So be not discouraged as the Law of Opposites plays itself out in wonderfully positive ways. It surely will, as you and others like you continue to take the lead in producing that outcome.

“Raise not your fist to heaven and curse the darkness not, but be a light unTO the darkness, that you might know who you really are. Let your light so shine before men, that all those whose lives you touch may know who they really are as well.”
