Urantia Foundation's News Online |
| |
Dear friends,
Here is the latest news from Urantia Foundation. Circle the globe with us and read about the origins of Esperanto, its intriguing parallels with The Urantia Book, and the status of a translation in the works. Next we visit the Netherlands and meet a husband and wife team who are making inroads into book distribution there and in Belgium. In Bogotá, Colombia, we hear from a seasoned reader who served behind the scenes on the new revision of El libro de Urantia. Heading south, meet the president of Urantia Peru, who was challenged with hosting the first all-virtual Urantia Association International conference.
A Venezuelan teacher-facilitator, currently residing in South Korea, gives a moving tribute to his work with the Spanish branch of Urantia Book Internet School. Crossing the Indian Ocean to Africa, we encounter a delightful Zulu reader from South Africa who gives a moving testimony about what The Urantia Book means to him. As always, we include some important announcements and a summary from the April board of trustees meeting.
Sincerely, Cece Forrester, Marilynn Kulieke, Joanne Strobel, and Tamara Strumfeld Editors of Urantia Foundation's News Online |

~ By Jean Annet ~ Namur, Belgium and ~ Martin Benoit ~ Québec, Canada
No evolutionary world can hope to progress beyond the first stage of settledness in light until it has achieved one language, one religion, and one philosophy. Being of one race greatly facilitates such achievement, but the many peoples of Urantia do not preclude the attainment of higher stages. 55:3.22 (626.11)
As The Urantia Book has already been translated into more than 20 languages, the time is now ripe to translate it into Esperanto, the most important constructed language in our world. It is already one year since we received... Read More |

~ Jaime Rey ~ Bogotá, Colombia
The Urantia Book came into my life in late 2007, when I was 53 years old and after following a 35-year trajectory of spiritual searching and doctrinal studies. Born in a Catholic family, with three years of seminary, one in an esoteric sect, and 35 years of service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I was stunned by its table of contents and the wealth of information provided. But I promised myself not to judge the book until I finished reading it.
While my personal foundation of truth was greatly challenged, the Spirit of Truth testified in my mind and in my heart about the book’s veracity. I began to feel obligated to share this wonderful revelation with... Read More |

~ Distributing Het Urantia Boek ~ in the Netherlands and Belgium |
|
~ By Hanno van der Plas ~ and ~ Ina van der Plas-Terra ~ Joure, the Netherlands
The Urantia Book has been available in the Dutch language since 1997 thanks to the efforts of Henk and Baukje Begemann’s team who worked on the translation for over 20 years. Het Urantia Boek was published as a hardcover book and was initially distributed by Frontier. The company went bankrupt in late 2016, and distribution stopped until August 2018.
Because of Hanno’s involvement as a board member with the national affiliate of Urantia Association International, Stichting Urantia Nederlandstalig (UAI/SUN), and his personal experience with online distribution and online entrepreneurship, he was approached by... Read More |

~ By Ulises Pedrique ~ Florida, United States
I am originally from Caracas, Venezuela. My home is now a beautiful paradise in North America called Venice, Florida, in the United States. This is where my first contacts and encounters with Urantia Foundation, specifically with UBIS, began. Currently I am residing in South Korea, from where I am addressing you now. (This is temporary, although it has lasted longer than expected. But that is not the subject of this story.)
The Urantia Book came into my hands in 2008 in a subtle and inevitable way. It was love at first sight. From the beginning... Read More |

~ Teamwork: A Virtual Conference Experience ~ |
|
~ By Lourdes Burga-Cisneros ~ President Urantia Association of Peru
The 11th Urantia Association International Conference took place April 24–25, 2021. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, attendees weren’t able to come to Cusco, Peru, but Cusco came to them for an unforgettable virtual experience.
At first we were very disappointed about not having the event on site. The plan of making it happen in Cusco began in 2015, we started working on it in 2017, and after three years of hard work we had to cancel everything! But, at a certain point we thought: It needs to be done anyway!
After generating momentum and consecrating our wills to doing something for the glory of the Father, we were not going to give up. No way! So we decided to... Read More |

~ By Zwelakhe Patrick Kubheka ~ Eastern Cape, South Africa
It is with great pleasure that I share my devotion to The Urantia Book with you, my fellow Urantians.
A bit of background first: I was born in 1974 to a traditional Zulu family that believed in—and thoroughly practiced—an African indigenous religion which The Urantia Book calls “ancestor worship.” We don’t perceive it as worship of the dead, but that is a topic for another day.
In 1986 my mother converted to Christianity and our lives took a turn. Around 1990 I made a personal choice to “follow Jesus.” Christianity and African spirituality were the only faiths I knew until 1993 when I left my hometown (Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa) to advance my education in Durban. In this coastal city I started expanding my spiritual boundaries by... Read More |
