Why the Modern World Needs

Jesus’s Original Teachings

Sheila Keene-Lund’s new book, The Original Teachings of Jesus: A Guide to Building Better Relationships, Transforming Your Life, and Deepening Your Faith, is intended to help Christianity evolve towards embodying the transformative spirit of Jesus. It reintroduces his powerful teachings—based on the Bible and The Urantia Book—in a format that readers can easily relate to.

In her essay published today, Keene-Lund delves into the ways that Jesus’s teachings as presented in the New Testament have impacted humanity, and the modern issues that point to challenges in realizing the ideals he espoused.

But inspiring people to embrace a fresh perspective on Jesus’s teachings is no easy task, she writes. She takes the example of some of the comments she received on her Facebook post about the book, and provides her interesting and thoughtful responses to them.

Don Guimond

Obituary

A Leader Who Lived the Teachings

Don Guimond, president of the Pilot Light Urantia Society of Seattle and a very active participant in the Urantia Book community, has passed away after a short illness. Anthony Finstad pays tribute to his friend of 40 years.

“Don had a service-minded spirit. He tried his best to live the teachings of our Master. His deep voice, and sometimes tough exterior, was no reflection of his inner warmth and kind hearted soul.”

Children on the Podium at Nigeria Conference

Youngsters from the age of ten were on the podium presenting readings from The Urantia Book during a conference in Lagos, Nigeria. The adults—one as young as 18—gave presentations that explored themes ranging from an overview of the book to the goal of civilization.

They're featured in a report from the successful Urantia Peace Initiative Conference that took place in Lagos last September. Part one was published last week. Scroll down to read the new part, "Conference Presentations."
